This guide will walk you through the steps to set up Amount Discounts effectively in BON
Introduction
Amount Discounts are a valuable way to reward your customers by allowing them to redeem points for a fixed monetary amount, such as $100 or $50 Off.
Overview
Where and how to set up Amount discounts
To create an Amount Discount in BON Loyalty, follow these simple steps:
- Navigate to BON > Point Programs > Redeem Points > Add More > Amount Discount.
- Enter a title for the reward. This title will be visible to your customers, so make it clear and appealing.
- BON Pro Tip: If your website supports multiple languages, ensure you update the title for each language. BON’s multi-language display feature is available on Basic, Growth, and Professional plans.
Types of Amount Discounts
You can choose between two types of Amount Discounts depending on how you want your customers to redeem their points:
1. Fixed Amount Discount
This type provides a set discount amount that customers can redeem.
- Example: If you set the rule to allow customers to redeem 100 points for a $100 discount, a customer with 100 points can redeem them three times, receiving three separate $100 discount codes.
This flexible option allows customers to redeem varying amounts of points for corresponding discounts.
- Example: A customer with 300 points can choose to:
- Redeem 30 points for a $3 discount.
- Redeem 90 points for a $9 discount.
- Redeem all 300 points for a $30 discount.
- Note: Customers will see a scroll bar to select the number of points they wish to redeem, offering greater flexibility.
Set additional conditions for Increments of Points (optional)
Minimum Points: Specify the minimum number of points that must be redeemed.
- Example: Customers must redeem at least 30 points.
Maximum Points: Limit the maximum number of points that can be redeemed.
- Example: Customers can redeem up to 3000 points.
Setting additional conditions for both types of Amount Discounts (Optional)
To further customize your Amount Discounts, you can set the following conditions:
- Minimum Purchase Requirement: Require customers to spend a minimum amount to apply the discount.
- Example: The discount can only be applied to purchases of $20 or more.
- Product Restrictions: Limit the discount to specific product collections.
- Example: The discount can only be used on items from a particular collection.
- Reward Expiration: Set an expiration date for the discount code, which begins immediately after it is redeemed.
- Example: The code expires 10 days after redemption.
- Combinations: Enable the discount to be combined with other types of discounts. Discounts in Shopify are categorized into classes, such as:
- Order Discount
- Product Discount
- Shipping Discount
You need to identify the discount classes and decide which ones can be combined.
- Example: If you want a $100 discount (Order discount) to combine with a Free Product discount, check the box for “Product discount” in the Amount Discount settings. Then, in the Free Product discount settings, check the box for “Order discount.” Both discount classes need permission to combine, much like mutual consent in a partnership.
Note: Discounts are generated by Shopify, and the rules for combination discounts are set by Shopify. To learn more, you can visit the Shopify Discount Combinations documentation here.
