How to add tags to customers in the VIP Tier program
Introduction
Adding tags to your VIP customers helps you identify and reward your top-tier clients effectively. This feature allows merchants to apply specific tags to VIP customers in each tier, which will be visible in your Shopify Admin.
NOTE: This feature is part of the VIP Tiers program and is available in the Growth or Professional plan. If you’re interested in using it, check out our pricing plans.
Find the “Add tag for this Tier” option and toggle it to Active
The tag will be automatically created based on the Tier title. For example, if the Tier is named “Diamond,” the tag will be BON_diamond and will be applied to customers in that tier.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If you change the Tier title later, customers who were already assigned the old tag won’t have their tag updated. Only new customers will receive the updated tag
Customers who were in the tier before you enabled tags won’t be tagged retroactively
Changing the tag in Shopify does not update it in BON Loyalty
Where to find the VIP tags in Shopify Admin
Go to Shopify > Customers
Click on a customer profile to view their details
The tag (e.g., BON_diamond) will appear in the Tags section of their profile.
How to filter customers by VIP tags in Shopify Admin
Go to Shopify > Customers
Click on Add filter > Select Customer tags and choose Contains this exact tag
Enter the VIP tag you’re looking for (e.g., BON_diamond).
This will help you quickly locate all customers in that specific VIP tier.
