BON Loyalty was designed to incentivize repeat purchases and reward loyal customers for their continuing purchases. However, in the case of a refund required, you can find out how BON’s policy being applied to manage refunded orders.

2. “Fixed amount of points” type
NOTE:
- The refund policy in BON will vary, depending on the “Complete an order” earning option and “VIP tiers” settings.
- The return & restock option when processing a refund will not affect this policy.
- In Shopify, orders with a total of 0 cannot be refunded. Additionally, if there is a discount code created from BON that was applied to, and points were redeemed for that code, those points cannot be returned either.
Technically, BON receives information about orders made through Shopify. However, if there is no refund request sent from Shopify for a particular order, BON is unable to make any changes to that order.
In the screenshot above, the customer redeemed 4000 points for the 400$ discount (created by BON).
Neither this order be refunded, nor 4000 points be returned.
- BON processes the first successful refund only. If there was any adjustment made after, kindly contact our support team for further assistance.
Important: The refund amount will vary depending on which type of “Complete an order’ reward:
1. "Increment of points" type #
In this case,
- Customers will earn 1 point for each EUR spent.
- Additionally, The VIP tier’s benefit is to multiply x2 points for “Complete an order” reward points.
Full refund
With a full refund, BON will deduct the point amount equivalent to the refunded amount.
If this customer has VIP point reward (x2 points for “Complete an order” option), it will also be deducted fully.
Partial refund
The deducted points amount is equal to the refunded amount.
The deducted VIP points reward will be calculated based on the refund amount.
Deducted VIP points = (Refund amount / “Complete an order” points) * VIP tier’s benefit point
In this case: (300/454)*908 = 600:
Full refund (order with BON discount code applied)
The points which are used to redeem the code will be returned.
The deducted point amount is equal to the refund amount.
If this customer has VIP point reward (x2 points for “Complete an order” option), it will also be deducted:
Partial refund (order with BON discount code applied)
The points used to redeem the applied code will not be returned in this case, since the code’s value has already reduced the payment total:
The deducted point amount is equal to the refund amount.
Deducted VIP points = (Refund amount / “Complete an order” points) * VIP tier’s benefit point
In this case: (150/300)*600 = 300:
Refund with tax collected separately
If you activate the “Manage sales tax collection” feature in Shopify, the tax will display separately from the subtotal:
The “Complete an order” points will also include the tax amount. In this case: 452 + 90 = 542
Note: If the fractional part is less than 0.5, the number is rounded down.
The full refund amount is equal to the “Complete an order” points.
The points for the VIP tier’s benefit will also be deducted:
2. "Fixed amount of points" type
In this scenario, for the “Complete an order” option – customers can earn 50 points for each order, regardless of the order’s value.
The VIP tier’s benefit in this scenario is multiplied by x2 for the “Complete an order” option.
Full refund
The deducted point amount for the full refund equals the “Complete an order” point amount. In this case, it’d be 50 points.
If this customer has VIP point reward (x2 points for “Complete an order” option), it will be deducted as well:
Partial refund
If the “Complete an order” setting is a fixed amount of points, regardless of a partial or full refund, all the points will be deducted:

The points used to redeem the applied code will be returned.
The “Complete an order” points and the VIP tier’s benefit points are deducted:

In this case, the points redeemed for the discount code will not be returned
